💭 What This Means
Today's Psalms give us a wide range of emotions and prayers. Psalm 68 is a grand song of triumph, celebrating God's power as He arises to scatter His enemies. It reminds us that He is a father to the fatherless, He sets the solitary in families, and He ascended on high, receiving gifts for men, even the rebellious. We are blessed because He daily loads us with benefits. Then, Psalms 69 and 70 shift dramatically to deep lament. The psalmist cries out from sinking mire, weary from trouble, hated without cause. He describes bearing reproach for God's sake, even being given gall and vinegar. He pleads for God to make haste and deliver him from his enemies. Psalm 86 is another personal cry for mercy and guidance, recognizing God's goodness, compassion, and readiness to forgive. Finally, Psalm 101 is a powerful vow from a king, committing to walk with a perfect heart, to hate wickedness, and to seek out the faithful to serve him. It's a commitment to righteous living and governance.
