💭 What This Means
Today's reading takes us on an incredible journey through five psalms. We begin with Psalm 22, a raw cry of abandonment, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" It describes intense suffering, even prophetically detailing pierced hands and feet, and garments divided by lot. Yet, in the midst of this deep despair, the psalm turns to a future hope, declaring God's praise and ultimate global reign. Then, Psalm 23 offers a profound contrast, painting the comforting picture of the Lord as our Shepherd, guiding us through valleys, restoring our souls, and preparing a table in the presence of our enemies. This psalm reassures us of God's constant presence and provision. Psalm 24 then shifts to a majestic declaration of God's sovereignty over creation and the triumphant arrival of the "King of glory." Psalms 25 and 26 are prayers for guidance, mercy, and a commitment to walk in integrity, trusting in the Lord's deliverance and lovingkindness.
