Beloved brothers and sisters, as we watch the S&P 500 futures remain largely unchanged and oil prices tick higher, we are reminded that all things—whether in the world of finance or in our daily lives—ultimately belong to the Lord. Proverbs 21:1 says, “The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the Lord; he turns it wherever he will.” Just as God directs the course of rivers and nations, He also guides the movements of markets and economies. Though we may not always understand the timing of His decisions, we can trust that His wisdom is perfect and His purposes are eternal.
Economic Uncertainty and Divine Guidance
In times of uncertainty, the Word of God speaks directly to our hearts. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Then the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” As traders and investors await the Federal Reserve’s rate decision, let us not be consumed by fear or speculation. Instead, we are called to cast our anxieties on the Lord, trusting that He is in control. The Lord’s peace will guard our hearts even amid the ebb and flow of financial markets.

The Bible teaches that faith is the foundation of our trust in God’s provision. In 1 Peter 5:7, we are told, “Cast all your anxiety on the Lord because he cares for you.” This applies not only to our spiritual lives but also to our financial stewardship. As we navigate the complexities of the economy, may we remember that our true wealth lies in Christ, and our resources are to be used in ways that honor Him. Whether in investing, saving, or giving, let our decisions reflect a heart that seeks first the Kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33).

Lord, we lift our eyes to You as we observe the movements of markets and the decisions of those in power. We ask for Your wisdom to discern Your will in these times.
